Overview
Tantra has two outreach engines. They share your login, your contacts, and your connected mailboxes, but they send in different ways and measure success with different signals. This article helps you choose.
Both engines send from your own Google Workspace mailboxes using a service account with domain-wide delegation, a permission you grant once in your Google admin console. Neither engine asks for a password or a personal sign-in.
How it works
You find both engines on the Campaigns page, split across two tabs:
- The Calendar Campaigns tab lists your calendar invitation campaigns.
- The Email Campaigns tab lists your cold email sequences.
The Create Campaign button lets you start either one. Smart Google Calendar creates a calendar campaign. Email Outreach creates a cold email sequence.
Calendar campaigns
A calendar campaign creates a Google Calendar event, then adds your prospects as attendees. Google sends the invitation to each attendee. The message that lands in the prospect's inbox is a real calendar invite, delivered by Google, so it shows up on their agenda rather than in a promotions tab.
The engagement signal is the RSVP. You see who accepted, who declined, and who has not answered yet. Tantra reconciles RSVPs on a schedule and can push them onward by webhook.
Calendar campaigns are well suited to webinars, events, and any offer where getting on someone's calendar is the goal.
Cold email
A cold email campaign sends a sequence of emails, one step at a time, with a delay you set between each step. Steps stop automatically for anyone who replies. Tantra spreads sending across your mailboxes and respects per-sender daily and hourly limits.
The signals here are replies, clicks, bounces, and unsubscribes. Replies arrive in a shared threaded inbox, already sorted by intent. There is no open tracking, by design.
Cold email is well suited to multi-touch prospecting where you want a conversation, not just a single event.

What happens next
Pick the engine that matches your goal, then follow its setup guide:
- For invitations and events, read What are calendar campaigns, then Create a smart calendar campaign.
- For email prospecting, read What is cold email outreach, then Build an email sequence.
Either way, connect Google Workspace first. See How Tantra sends as your mailboxes.
Best practices
- Use calendar campaigns when a calendar slot is the win, and cold email when a reply is the win.
- You can run both at once from the same mailboxes. Keep an eye on per-sender limits if you do.
- Start each engine with a small list to confirm your setup before scaling.
Common mistakes
- Sending a calendar invitation when you wanted a plain email. Check the tab and the create option before you build.
- Expecting reply intent labels on a calendar campaign. Intent classification belongs to cold email replies in the Inbox.
FAQ
Can I run both engines from the same mailboxes?
Yes. Both engines send from the mailboxes you verify on the Accounts page. They share your sender pool.
Which engine has better deliverability?
A calendar invitation is delivered by Google and rarely hits a spam folder. Cold email deliverability depends on your domain health, warmup, and limits.
Do calendar campaigns track replies?
Calendar campaigns track RSVPs, not free-text replies. Free-text reply detection and intent classification belong to cold email.
Does cold email track opens?
No. Tantra does not track email opens, by design. It tracks clicks, replies, bounces, and unsubscribes instead.
Do the two engines share contacts?
Yes. Contacts and lists are shared across both engines. You import once and use them anywhere.
