Overview
Each sender on the Accounts page carries two badges: a connection state and a capability. Together they tell you whether a mailbox can send, and through which engine. This article explains each badge.
The badges
Connection state:
- Connected: at least one of your uploaded service accounts can impersonate this mailbox. It is ready to send.
- Disconnected: no uploaded service account can currently impersonate the mailbox. It cannot send until reconnected.
Capability:
- Gmail capable: the mailbox can send email through the Gmail API, so it can run cold email campaigns.
- Calendar-only: the mailbox is connected for calendar but not for Gmail. It can run calendar campaigns but not cold email.
How it works
When you verify a sender, Tantra tries to impersonate it with each uploaded service account and records every account that works. If at least one works, the sender is Connected and the first working account becomes its primary. Tantra then runs a separate Gmail check. If that succeeds, the sender is Gmail capable. If not, it is Calendar-only. A connected but calendar-only sender is normal when you granted the Calendar scope but not the Gmail scopes.
What each state means for sending
| State | Cold email | Calendar campaigns |
|---|---|---|
| Connected + Gmail capable | Yes | Yes |
| Connected + Calendar-only | No | Yes |
| Disconnected | No | No |
Common mistakes
- Assuming Calendar-only is an error. It is expected when only the Calendar scope is granted.
- Trying to launch a cold email campaign from a calendar-only sender. Grant the Gmail scopes and re-verify first.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Sender is Disconnected | Delegation or scope gap, or the service account was removed | See Reconnect a disconnected sender |
| Sender is Calendar-only but you want email | Gmail scopes not granted | Add gmail.send and gmail.modify and re-verify |
FAQ
Is Calendar-only a problem?
Not by itself. It means the mailbox can run calendar campaigns but not cold email. Add the Gmail scopes if you want email sending.
Why is a mailbox Disconnected right after setup?
Delegation may not have propagated yet, or the scopes may be missing. Wait a few minutes and re-verify.
Can one mailbox match more than one service account?
Yes. Tantra records every service account that can impersonate the mailbox and uses the first as the primary.
